Dolphin Dynamics Appoints Pipeline Software as FlightScanner Distributor for Spain

Dolphin Dynamics has entered into a distribution agreement with Pipeline Software to distribute Dolphin FlightScanner, the web-based search and booking engine tool, in the Spanish market.

London, 11 October 2004: Dolphin Dynamics Ltd, developers of FlightScanner, the easiest way to book low cost carriers, announced today that it has appointed Pipeline Software, the leading supplier of travel technology systems to the Spanish market, as distributor for FlightScanner.

Pipeline Software is devoted exclusively to offering technological solutions to travel agencies in Spain where they are leaders in the market. With a customer base of over 1,800 Spanish travel agencies, they offer a range of complementary technological services including services related to booking systems.

The significant size and the high penetration of low cost airlines in the country mean that Spain represents an important market for FlightScanner. More than two thirds of the 60 main low cost carriers serve Spain, making FlightScanner an ideal tool for travel agents booking both in and outbound flights for the country.

Pipeline and their network of collaborators across Spain will promote the full range of FlightScanner products, including the travel agent web-based tool and booking engine technology, as well as providing first line customer support.

Dolphin Dynamics plans to apply this model to other markets and is already in discussions with distributors in several countries.

FlightScanner helps travel agents keep their competitive advantage by searching the Internet for information not available on their GDS screen and doing so much more quickly than their customers.

Over 5,000 international travel agencies (2500 UK, 2200 Europe, 180 US) have registered on the FlightScanner web site at www.flightscanner.biz and over 20,000 individual users have used the system since its launch in April 2002.

FlightScanner boosts agent productivity much more than other search engines. It not only searches across multiple airline web sites in real time from a single search screen, but it also takes the agent directly to the actual booking page of the selected carrier’s website without having to re-enter any of the itinerary detail and automates the entire process.

With more travel agents charging transaction fees, being able to quickly find and book a web fare is fundamental to their profitability and is a service that their customers expect, just as happens with traditional carriers available in the GDS. FlightScanner, coupled with Dolphin for Window’s ability to automatically calculate transaction fees, allows leisure and business travel agents to ensure that all options are offered to the customer and that at invoicing time the correct fee is applied to that transaction.

Once the agent has registered with FlightScanner and is given a password to access the protected site, searching with FlightScanner only takes 3 steps. First, the user enters the search criteria. Second, FlightScanner checks all of the supported sites that cover that route and brings back the results of the search. Third and finally, the user selects the fare required and FlightScanner opens a new browser window taking the user directly to the booking page for the fare selected.

Travel agents can visit www.flightscanner.biz and register to use the search engine for free for a limited time. ABTA/IATA/TID members will get immediate access to the system while non members will need to be contacted to validate that they are indeed a travel agent.
